Are you exhausted by ________? Perhaps what exhausts you makes you angrier, lonelier, a bully, fearful, defeated, or high on the heroin of self-righteousness. Perhaps it causes you to divide people into camps (the “us” and “them” camp), and lose the ability to see the other as a sinner in need of Jesus.
Are you anxious about ________? There is much to be anxious, uncertain, and feel out of control about today. Anxiety comes in multi-forms today.
Are you over-burdened by ________? Burdens break us down. Burdens trick us into trusting ourselves, it’s the illusion of control. We do not carry burdens well.
This new year I invite all who are exhausted, anxious, and over-burdened to nothing but Jesus. In other words, real Christianity. Real Church. Real worship, community, and mission. Even real justice. “Nothing But Jesus” is our mission at Redeemer Waco, which means it is our mission for the New Year. Fasten your seat belts. Put on your crash helmets. “Nothing But Jesus” changes everything!
This new year from Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, and several New Testament writings we will look at nothing but Jesus and what that means for things like your identity, daily Christian life, work, church, making friends, loving your neighbor, seeking justice, engaging culture, the state (politics), courage and boldness, and more.
“For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.” (1 Cor. 2:2).
